Once you've read it, check out our 2019 Subaru Forester inventory to find your next small SUV.

2019 Subaru Forester Interior Design

Subaru Forester vs Ford Escape: Interior

These may both be small SUVs, but the 2019 Subaru Forester certainly doesn't feel small! It has an impressive 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume. The Ford Escape, on the other hand, has just 98.7 cubic feet. This means that you'll get more headroom, legroom, and shoulder room on both rows of the Subaru Forester.

In addition to having more room for passengers, the Subaru Forester has more room for cargo. It comes standard with 35.4 cubic feet of cargo volume; fold down the rear seats and you can get up to 76.1 cubic feet. The Ford Escape has 34 cubic feet of cargo space; when you fold down the second row, that number only increases to 68 cubic feet.

2019 Subaru Forester Technology

Subaru Forester vs Ford Escape: Tech

In today's world, it's more important than ever to stay connected. The Subaru Forester makes this easy, thanks to standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android™ Auto on every trim level. While these features are available in the Ford Escape, you can't get them on the entry-level trim.

The Subaru Forester also offers a new tech feature: Subaru DriverFocus™ Distraction Mitigation System. This device will keep tabs on your driving. If it notices that you appear to be distracted or drowsy, it will alert you to that fact. A feature like this can't be found in the Ford Escape.

2019 Subaru Forester Performance

Subaru Forester vs Ford Escape: Performance

When it comes to performance, the Subaru Forester handily beats the Ford Escape. The horizontally opposed SUBARU BOXER® engine gives the Forester great balance and a low center of gravity, especially when compared to the inline engine in the Ford Escape. Additionally, the Subaru Forester gets more horsepower and torque than the Ford Escape, while also getting better gas mileage.

What's more, every Subaru Forester comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. This AWD system gives the Subaru Forester more off-road capability than the standard Ford Escape, which comes with front-wheel drive only. 4WD is available as an upgrade for the Ford Escape, but it will cost you.

2019 Subaru Forester Safety Ratings

Subaru Forester vs Ford Escape: Safety Ratings

Subaru is dedicated to keeping you and your family safe, and the Subaru Forester is an outstanding example of this. It earned the 2019 Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it received ratings of "Good" (the highest possible rating) on all its IIHS crashworthiness tests. Not only did the Ford Escape not earn any IIHS awards, but it didn't do as well on the tests, either. It only earned a rating of "Acceptable" on the driver-side small overlap front crash test, while it earned a "Poor" rating (the worst possible) in the passenger-side small overlap front crash test. While the Subaru Forester earned a "Superior" rating for its crash avoidance & mitigation features, the Ford Escape earned only a "Basic" rating.

2019 Subaru Forester Driver Assist Technology

Subaru Forester vs Ford Escape: Driver Assist Technology

No matter which 2019 Subaru Forester you choose, you'll get the protection that comes from Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. With its combination of Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-collision Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, this suite of features makes it easier to avoid crashes. You can find similar features in the Ford Escape, but they're not standard. Once again, you'd have to pay more in the Ford to get a feature that comes standard in the Subaru.
