Learn More About the IIHS Top Safety Pick List
Every year, IIHS--the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety--puts out a Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ list, containing the safest vehicles. How does a vehicle get a spot on one of these coveted lists? To make the Top Safety Pick list, a vehicle must receive good ratings in the moderate front overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests, and it must also get a good or acceptable rating in the small overlap front test. For a vehicle to get a spot on the Top Safety Pick+ list, it must meet not only all the Top Safety Pick criteria, but it must also get a rating of advanced or superior for front crash prevention.
